Preschool Minister ~ Susan Beaty

Susan joined the Southland team in April, 2015. Susan and husband, Stacy, have been active members of our church since 2009. They've served in many areas of our church and their five children are involved in both our preschool and children's ministries.  Susan is excited about this new chapter in her life.  She's looking forward to experiencing all that God has for her and our church as she lives out a call to professional ministry that she first experienced in high school.

Children's Minister ~  Janet Abernathy

Janet has been directing children's ministries at Southland since May, 2010.  She has a passion for children and their families, and wants to provoke discovery for kids and help them have a new understanding of how to grow in their relationship with Jesus.  Janet is married to Bryan, and they enjoy life out in the country with their four beautiful children, Kaden, Mary-Kate, Everly, and Pippa.  She likes to sew, travel, craft, and read when she has spare time.  (B.A., Angelo State University, currently working on M.A. Children's Ministry at Dallas Baptist University)

Child Development Center Director ~ Carey Peacock

Carey began her career in education in 2000 as a Pre-K teacher for SAISD.  She worked for 6 years as a teacher and curriculum and assessment writer.  She then took time to be a stay-at-home mom for her sons Caleb, Connor, and Carter Chance.  Upon returning to work in education, she was an early childhood teacher coach/mentor for the Texas School Ready! Project.  That job gave her a new passion for educating teachers.  Grant funding ended so she went back to school and ASU, and is set to graduate in December of 2016 with a Master's in curriculum & Instruction for Advanced Instructors.  A member of Southland for more than 13 years, Carey was thrilled to accept the position as director of the newly licensed Southland Baptist Church Child Development Center.  With the support of her husband Bill and the staff at Southland, Carey looks forward to growing this week-day ministry by serving children, teachers, and families in the San Angelo area.
